Main Description

The Service Inventory Manager is responsible for cataloging the services, publicizing the capabilities of the services and controlling the configuration management and release management of services. The organization's inventory is comprised of other assets such as XML schemas, and the UDDI Registry. If the organization elects to have service profiles that contain metadata in text easily read by the business analyst, service profiles are located outside of the UDDI Registry (technical service contracts). These are the artifacts which have to be cataloged and maintained.

The XML schema contains the policy information for Web services (technical contract) and these should be maintained and controlled under a version control system.
