Enum DataType

  • All Implemented Interfaces:
    java.io.Serializable, java.lang.Comparable<DataType>

    public enum DataType
    extends java.lang.Enum<DataType>
    The type of data that is to be collected. This type also effects the way the data is exported for management and for metrics.

      Enum Constants
      Enum Constant Description
      HISTOGRAM
      Same as MEASUREMENT, but instead of instantaneous values it provides a histogram of past values.
      MEASUREMENT
      Numeric data that normally changes over time.
      TRAIT
      A value of the running system that changes rarely or never.

      Modifier and Type Method Description
      java.lang.String toString()
      static DataType valueOf(java.lang.String name)
      Returns the enum constant of this type with the specified name.
      static DataType[] values()
      Returns an array containing the constants of this enum type, in the order they are declared.

      • MEASUREMENT

        public static final DataType MEASUREMENT
        Numeric data that normally changes over time. If this is applied to a non-numeric property it will not be exported as a metric but will still be exported as a manageable attribute.
      • TRAIT

        public static final DataType TRAIT
        A value of the running system that changes rarely or never. This is exposed as a manageable attribute, but never as a metric.
      • HISTOGRAM

        public static final DataType HISTOGRAM
        Same as MEASUREMENT, but instead of instantaneous values it provides a histogram of past values.
    • Method Detail

      • values

        public static DataType[] values()
        Returns an array containing the constants of this enum type, in the order they are declared. This method may be used to iterate over the constants as follows:
        for (DataType c : DataType.values())
            System.out.println(c);

        Returns:
        an array containing the constants of this enum type, in the order they are declared
      • valueOf

        public static DataType valueOf(java.lang.String name)
        Returns the enum constant of this type with the specified name. The string must match exactly an identifier used to declare an enum constant in this type. (Extraneous whitespace characters are not permitted.)
        Parameters:
        name - the name of the enum constant to be returned.
        Returns:
        the enum constant with the specified name
        Throws:
        java.lang.IllegalArgumentException - if this enum type has no constant with the specified name
        java.lang.NullPointerException - if the argument is null
      • toString

        public java.lang.String toString()
        Overrides:
        toString in class java.lang.Enum<DataType>
