compare the first and second values

Parameters:

columnIndex - the index of the table column being compared

firstValueRow - the model row index of the firstValue

secondValueRow - the model row index of the secondValue

Returns:

a negative integer, zero, or a positive integer as the first argument is less than, equal to, or greater than the second.
